Coeliac UK periodically reports on the state of eating out gluten free to its members and food businesses across the UK. Its aim is to normalise eating out gluten free. I was briefed to write this report aimed at both members of the gluten free community and food businesses.
The report provides Coeliac UK’s 63,000 members and the wider gluten free community with an update on the state of eating out gluten free. It provided food businesses with valuable insight into the challenges people with coeliac disease, who need to be on a gluten free diet for medical reasons, face when eating out. Coeliac UK partners with food businesses to turn these challenges into opportunities for differentiation by ensuring gluten free food safety.
Several external data sources were used to estimate the size of the market at 2.9 million people with a spend of £3.3 billion per annum. An internal survey among members provided data on attitudes and behaviours of the gluten free community. 93% of respondents felt more assured when eating at establishments with the Coeliac UK Gluten Free Accreditation and 87% of them still report difficulty accessing gluten free food on the go.
I conduct research, analyse data and write reports that demonstrate the impact medical charities are having on the state of the specialised sectors they serve. Read the full report.
